Zusammenfassung

Die herpetologische Sammlung des Naturhistorisk Museum in Oslo wurde besonders geprägt von der Sammeltätigkeit einzelner norwegischer Zoologen und Naturkundler wie Robert Collett, Carl Sofus Lumholtz oder Knut Dahl. Die geographischen Schwerpunkte der Sammlung liegen in Australien, Südostasien (Borneo, Sumatra), Madagaskar und Südafrika. Neben verschiedensten bereits in die Sammlung integrierten Amphibien und Reptilien aus diesen tropischen Regionen findet sich auch zahlreiches, bisher weitgehend unbearbeitetes Material – unter anderem von so bekannten Naturforschern wie Thor Heyerdahl.
